About Dr. Barra...
Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness. ~Desmond Tutu
We all have the capacity within us to effect positive change in our lives, but sometimes we may need additional guidance and support in order to get through some of life’s greater challenges. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience in helping people find their own inner light amidst the darkness of depression, trauma, anxiety, and loss. I utilize a holistic approach, which draws upon the unique strengths of each individual as key to the healing process. I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients, but I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults. Areas of clinical expertise include simple trauma, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, women’s issues, stress management, crisis management, anger management, grief and loss issues, spirituality, self-esteem, relationship issues, impulse control, and chemical dependency. I have also been trained as a Music Therapist and will at times incorporate music and other creative arts into treatment. I am committed to providing you with a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment in which you can freely explore your fears, concerns, hopes and dreams. We will work together to discover and address the underlying factors contributing to your current distress in order to effect a more lasting change. Education
